On the Road
The bots have been traveling the open roads of the USA since 2015. The bots are centrally located in the Midwest, in Rock Island, Illinois. This location has not stopped them from packing up the car and traveling around the country for different events like art festivals, Maker Faires, comic conventions, and art shows. These events have made for some very enjoyable trips and adventures. Along with meeting new people and artist the bots are on the lookout for new parts to help make new bots. Check out some of the fun and adventures the bots have gotten into over the years by clicking on a state below
Is There Room?
Before the bots go anywhere… The car has to get ready. All of the bots stuff has to be loaded into the car for an event. Tables, tent, all of the bots, and prints, are just a few things that have to be packed into the car, like a puzzle. Along with room for Nancy and one passenger, maybe. Once at the location all of the bot stuff gets unloaded and set up for the event. After the event, it all goes back into the car. Hopefully, with a little less bot stuff than before. The bots usually find room in the car to fit a few new bot part found along the way too.
Art & Craft Festivals
Art festival and indie craft festival are both large and small festival where a variety of handmade arts and crafts are sold. A mixture of different artist come together to set up their goods, in hopes to sell. Many festivals are outdoor and includes musical preferences, food, hands-on activities and more. These festivals are where Lee Bots started to travel and sell in 2015.
Part science fair, part county fair, and part something entirely new, Maker Faire is an all-ages gathering of tech enthusiasts, crafters, educators, tinkerers, hobbyists, engineers, science clubs, authors, artists, students, and commercial exhibitors. All of these “makers” come to Maker Faire to show and some sell what they have made and to share what they have learned. The bots started to travel for these faires in 2016.
Or comic cons are events with a primary focus on comic books and comic book culture, in which comic book fans gather to meet creators, artist, experts, and each other. Commonly, comic conventions are multi-day events. They feature a wide variety of activities and panels, with a larger number of attendees participating in cosplay. The bots started to travel for these conventions in 2017.
Art shows are where the bots get shown in a gallery in either a solo exhibition, or a group exhibition with other artists. These shows are held in galleries that show the work for around a month or two. This is where the bots get to be on display and sold by the gallerist. The bots have been doing these shows since their first one in 2013.

Unpacking the car after the bots get home can hide a lot more than the bot’s event stuff. On most trips, the bots stop by Restores, second-hand shops, and antique mall on the lookout for more parts. The bots also have had some awesome people along the way give and donate different parts too. Whether it be, one computer or a small warehouse full of old parts the bots have seen a lot of different parts in their time. Always finding room in the back of the car for all the parts.
